Let me give you a yardstick.
Nice is Rahul Dravid.
Standing in a queue with his kids at a science exhibition.[1]
No show off, no Page 3 attitude, no celebrity airs, no "do you know who I am?" looks.
Queuing just like any other normal parent. Really admirable.
See that? Now that is nice. That is humble.
Now let's look at Salman.
He killed two endangered animals in cold blood in a place where the animals are loved like their own children and worshipped as mascots of their beliefs.
He ran over some people sleeping on the footpath and then some. A driver eventually 'took the blame'. The escorting policeman who dared to stand as a live witness against the actor in this case, faced sudden ostracisation from family and died under mysterious circumstances.
Oh deer! His fascination for deer continues as he goes on to remorselessly kill some more.
He hits women who are his girlfriends.
He sees to it that no one in the industry works with their future boyfriends.
He abuses people below him in his perceived stature.
He refuses epics like 'Chak De' (thank God for that, he would have ruined an experience) saying that he cannot offend his Pakistani & Bangladeshi fans.
He sips tea with Dawood & his ilk.
He sabotages careers of those who disagree with him.
Point to note being how he screwed with Arijit Singh.
A commenter remarks, “Arijit Singh fiasco where a talented artist who had come into the industry and is known only because of his mastery over his art, and not some offscreen gimmicks had to tend an apology to a person who started only because of the connections he had over such a silly thing, that hurt the latter.”
He is vindictive. He reeks of arrogance - in speech and demeanor.
He demeans rape victims by trivializing them and comparing his gait in a film with them.
He flouts rules and authority with impunity.
A screen grab from this article[2]
Speaks volumes…sometimes pictures do speak a thousand words.
Amidst all this if he runs a charity, I would say, “So what?”
I leave it to the reader to draw their conclusions of whether he is nice or the reader naive.
Edit: For all the commenters who are saying that comparing Dravid & Salman is not fair, I am merely showing one end of the spectrum & contrasting with the other.
Dravid is a class apart.
Salman is a classless apart.
